Daniel Caesar: Freudian

Daniel Caesar: Freudian

"Send me kisses when it's grey skies
Its been so long look how time flies
If you love me won't you let me know
I've been trying to learn let you go
Call my name whenever tears fall
When you face your fears you stand tall
Send me kisses when it's grey skies
Its been so long look how time flies
If you love me won't you let me know
I've been trying to learn let you go
Call my name whenever tears fall
When you face your fears you stand tall"

I don't know about y'all, but it's been so hard leaving Sza's album CTRL alone. So, I apologize for this late review. I have literally been going back and forth, so I finally said fuck it, and made a playlist with both albums, which has been pretty interesting with the different dynamics.

Daniel Caesar is finally getting some well-earned recognition with his new album, Freudian. I feel like homie kind of came out of nowhere, but came strong as hell. I hate comparing artist, because I know each one has their own creative sound, but homie is giving me strong Frank Ocean vibes. He's so versatile and meaningful.

Daniel is smooth, with gentle yet powerful vocals. His piano and guitar skills show off his full intention within this album. I would definitely say he's contributing to the new sound of R&B, showing how open the spectrum is becoming. With minimal features including, Kali Uchis, Syd, H.E.R., Charlotte Day Wilson and Sean Leon, Daniel displays the cycle of love. Having love, indulging in love, and going through the hard process of letting it go but then turning around to find a whole new love.  I respect this male perspective about acknowledging healthy and unhealthy behaviors that can develop within relationships. My favorite tracks include, Blessed, Hold me Down, Take me Away and Loose.

Love is one of the ultimate roller coasters, enjoying the high moments, thinking nothing can be better. When it gets to the point you can't fix it anymore, it's up to you to decide how you're going to continue the cycle. You can stay unsatisfied or "you better cut that girl loose. What are you, a coward? Who are you helping? You got the power. Then do what you said you can, and do it for her. You better cut that girl loose, set it free. Let it be. Leave it be."
