“What I would do to take away this fear of being loved/allegiance to the pain/now I fucked up and I miss you/I'll never be like you”
If you’re a fan of those lyrics, you were probably at the August 20th show for the one man band of Flume! The Australian born producer and musician, graced the stage of the Skyway Theatre in Minneapolis, Minnesota for an eclectic room of fans. This international tour is the result of the release of his second album titled, Skin. With features from musical gems like, Vince Staples, Tove Lo, and Minnesota’s own Allan Kingdom, this was definitely an album to hear!
If you’ve ever been to an EDM show before, you know it’s one like no other! With visuals to die for, glow in the dark body paint, and the world’s craziest dance moves, the Skyway Theatre was the place to be that evening. Flume strayed away from the older songs that night and focused on the highly anticipated songs of Skin.
His top and first released song of the album, “Never Be Like You” was a sure crowd pleaser. Pop, EDM, and even Hip Hop vibes were felt throughout the venue all night. Whether I knew the lyrics or not, I found myself singing along to every song somehow. This venue was a place to be free and careless; it made Culture Piece reminiscent of an earlier affair at the Electric Forest Festival in Rothbury, Michigan. We highly suggest whether you’re a fan of EDM or not, buy a ticket for the next show in town!
